Team viSparsh receives a cash grant of 2 lac INR

We are happy to announce that we have received a grant of Rs. 2 lakhs as one of the winners of the Economic Times- Power of Ideas 2012 contest.The contest was held in association with Department of Science and Technology and the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship, IIM Ahmedabad. Thank you all for the support as we see our idea comes a step closer to the realization.

About viSparsh

The word 'viSparsh' is a conglomeration of two words namely vision (Vis) & Touch (Sparsh) which truly depict the purpose of our project which is to aid the visually impaired people through the sense of Touch. We think this as an apt name for our team too whereby the same word would signify our team's aim of touching the lives of several people through our vision. The aim of the project is to develop a Haptic Belt for visually impaired where the initial technical efforts need to be taken to develop some relatively low-cost technology projects and integrating them into a socially useful application. The project would be one of its kind in India considering the fact where plethora of technological products are already present, only a few actually create an impact needed for the Indian Society. Our aim is to build a state of the art, easy to use, customized version for the Indian Market. Final product won't only be a navigating device but also a multi-functional utility product.

Our Coach

Abhimanyu Puri

Abhimanyu Puri is a Senior Research Analyst at McKinsey & Company's Global Infrastructure practice. Abhimanyu holds BBA in Management & Marketing from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. At McKinsey, he works on Real estate, transportation infrastructure assets (roads, ports, rail roads, airports etc) and broad macro-infrastructure questions. In past he worked as Associate in Gerson Lehrman Group where he assisted professionals at premier institutional investment firms worldwide in connecting with industry experts to gain insight and understand issues related to their investments/research interests. He has also worked with corporations and PSFs so that they may utilize the GLG network for ongoing projects, due diligence, business and strategy formation, etc.

Our Team

We as a team of engineers strongly believe that the toughest problems of the world can be solved through technological innovation.

1. Jatin Sharma

Jatin as an Electronics and Computer Science Engineer believes his first obligation is towards society and wants to share his knowledge in real time systems. His interest in electronics led him to start a club named 'Phoenix' in his college. Having had vast experience in making various technological products for the society, he has also worked as a technical advisor in a start up called Positron Technologies. He has also volunteered to teach short-term courses at IIT-Rajasthan, CIT-Abu, LNMIIT and Omega Electronics

2. Tushar Chugh

Tushar is passionate about learning new technologies and making it accessible to the mass. He has participated and won in many national and international competitions including the project Wizitank (an unmanned ground vehicle) where his team represented India at Microsoft Imagine Cup 2010 in Warsaw Poland and the PregnaCare System, which won second prize at the ImagineCup 2011 national finals in New Delhi His research interests include embedded systems and robotics. He is an Electronics and Communication Engineer.

3. Rolly Seth

Rolly has worked as a Scientist fellow at India's largest R&D organization CSIR from 2009-2011. Apart from her internships at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Raman Research Institute (India), she has also worked as a facilitator in a University of California, Berkeley project named 'MILLEE'(Mobile for Immersive Learning and Literact in Emerging Economics). Through her research she wants to carry forward the 21st century mantra of 'Mass Innovation'.
